What is magic?

Magic is fiction. The reason people in tv shows can do just about anything is BECAUSE it's fiction. Anyone can do anything they want in fiction because fiction doesn't have to abide by natural and universal laws (such as physics and time).

REAL magic (the stuff that REAL Witches use) abides by these laws. You cannot do the things shown on tv because those violate those natural laws. You cannot change physical forms (i.e. change into a fantasy creature such as a mermaid, vampire or werewolf), you cannot make things appear in an instant in a poof of smoke, you cannot make it rain money (or obtain vast amounts of wealth), you cannot change the weather or go back or forth in time.
If what you want to accomplish seems too good to be true, then you know it is. If your expectations are unrealistic, that type of magic isn't going to work. While magic is the manipulation of surrounding energies to bring about desired will, that desired will and manipulated energies must have realistic goals. Healing, for example, can be accomplished through magic, but again, must have realistic expectations. You cannot outright cure cancer with magic, but you can ease pain and discomfort. You can obtain modest amounts of funds with magic as well (but not be greedy with it, otherwise you get nothing), but only what you need, and must be careful on asking this. You must be 100% clear on where you expect this funds to come from, otherwise you could be getting the money from an inheritance from a loved one who has died OR a disability pay due to an accident.

Unfortunatly, in order to be able to accomplish what you want properly, it takes a LOT of WORK to learn and become proficient. It's far more than the wave of a wand and the incantation of a few words to make things happen. None of this stuff can be learned over night. Many people study for years and still don't know the bare basics. It's not something to take lightly.
